We are proud to announce that six Green Films will premiere at the 81st Venice International Film Festival organised by La Biennale di Venezia and directed by Alberto Barbera, that will take place from the 28th of August to the 7th of September 2024.
This shows that the audiovisual sector is increasingly aware of environmental sustainability issues.
Two Green Films, Gianni Amelio’s “Campo di Battaglia” and Maura Delpero’s “Vermiglio”, were shot in Trentino and are both among the 21 projects in Competition for the Golden Lion. This years’s jury will be chaired by French actress Isabelle Huppert.
Campo di Battaglia was produced by Kavac Film, IBC Movie, One Art, in collaboration with Rai Cinema. The film will be distributed in Italian theaters from the 5th of September.
End of the First World War.
Two medical officers, childhood friends, work in the same military hospital, where the most seriously wounded arrive from the front every day. Many of them, however, have self-inflicted wounds, they are simulators, who would do anything not to return to the battlefield…
Vermiglio, directed by Maura Delpero at her second feature, and produced by Cinedora, Charades, Versus and Rai Cinema, recounts the last year of the Second World War in a large family and how, with the arrival of a refugee soldier, by a paradox of fate it loses its peace, at the very moment when the world finds its own.
Bestiari, erbari, lapidari by Massimo d’Anolfi, Martina Parenti, an Italian-France and Swiss co-production, will premiere out of competition.
It is an ‘encyclopaedia’ documentary, whose non-human protagonists tell the history and stories of us humans. The film is a trilogy in which each act tells about a single subject: animals, plants, stones.
Vittoria, directed by Alessandro Cassigoli and Casey Kauffman is in the line-up of Orizzonti Extra.
At 40, Jasmine has had everything she could wish for in life: a husband with whom she has a solid relationship, three sons and her hairdressing salon on the main street of Torre Annunziata. But after the death of her father, Jasmine is tormented by a recurring dream: a small, blonde girl runs towards her, throws herself into her arms and at that very instant she feels a sense of completeness.
Anywhere Anytime directed by Milad Tangshir is in Competition at the Settimana Internazionale della Critica , the independent and parallel section of the Venice International Film Festival organized by the Union of Italian Film Critics.
Issa is a young illegal immigrant trying to survive in Turin. Fired by his old employer, he starts working as a rider thanks to a friend. His newly found equilibrium crumbles when, during a delivery, his bicycle is stolen. Thus, Issa embarks on a desperate odyssey through the streets of the city to find his bike.
Quasi a casa the debut feature by young director Carolina Pavone, starring an excellent Lou Doillon (daughter of Jane Birkin and Jacques Doillon, as well as Charlotte Gainsbourg’s sister) in the role of a tormented and successful musician pursued by Caterina, an aspiring singer trapped in the sense of inadequacy and insecurities that plague the life of every young woman. Produced by Vivo Film, it will be the opening film of the Venetian Nights (section of Giornate degli Autori in collaboration with Isola di Edipo).
There comes a time in everyone’s life, between youth and adulthood, when we must begin to understand what to do, what place we want to have in this world.
Caterina perhaps has already realised this: she would like to be a musician. However, she is paralysed by fear and insecurity. “What if I’m not good enough? What if I can’t do anything good, then what happens? How do I know if I have talent or not?”
See you in Venice!
