In November the cold weather arrives and the trees turn yellow, but cinema is getting greener. It is the perfect season to spend warm evenings in the theaters or on the sofa, in the company of new Green Film certified films and series.
Here are some new releases for November.
Produced by La Kaseta Ideas Factory. Directed by David Fontseca Romanos, Montse Bover Rabionet. A Spanish series that deals with climate change as its main theme.
You can watch it here.
The reality of climate change is brought to life in Catalunya through the program ‘Kanviem?‘, which is hosted by young activist Olivia Mandle and presented without any filters. Simultaneously, the program seeks out projects and initiatives that are achieving significant successes in the fight against climate change in Spain. In terms of pedagogy, it provides ideas and actions that viewers can take to reduce the impact of the climate crisis.
Climate change and human actions have disrupted the natural balance. Pollution, global warming, rising sea levels, atmospheric changes, large-scale wildfires, and torrential storms force us to analyze the new climatic context and search for future solutions.
The world needs a change.
Produced by Ginko Film and Elda Productions. Directed by François-Xavier Destors and Alfonso Pinto.
The documentary was premiered on 11 November 2023 at the 64th edition of the Festival dei Popoli in Florence in the Italian competition.
“Better to die of cancer than of hunger,” are words you may well hear on Priolo beach in Sicily. In the shadows of the lovely city of Syracuse lies one of Europe’s largest petrochemical complexes. 70 years after the arrival of the first refineries, the area seems to have been abandoned to its fate as poison taints the sky, water and land. Woven around fragments supplied by residents who resist, are resigned or choose to look the other way, the film Toxic Sicily sets out to tell the tale of a place sacrificed on the altar of progress, modernity and globalisation.

In 1988 in Melpignano, a small town in Salento, a historical event took place: for the first time Soviet rock bands performed beyond the borders of URSS. The following spring, some Italian bands, including CCCP, performed in the Soviet Union. Through unpublished archival material and the direct protagonists’ testimonies, we will discover the incredible story of the tour that succeeded in creating a bridge between two worlds that had been divided until then, through a language that needs no interpreters: music.
